The Albatross Hotel Experience...

The style of our hotels is an essential component of our tours.

Hotel Oberland, Lauterbrunnen

In addition to centrally located city hotels, we have selected a variety of charming regional hotels with character. Imagine how much your enjoyment will be enhanced by staying in a delightful family run Gasthof hotel with balconies that have window boxes bursting with geraniums, or a medieval half timbered hotel oozing charm, or a superb ancient castle dating back centuries.  Would you rather return home telling tales of having woken in a 500 year old Inn as opposed to staying in a standard, modern glass and concrete 'block'?

We think you would!

Imagine staying in this charming hotel....

Hotel Les Ursulines on our La Francaise Tour

Introducing the Hotel Les Ursulines in Autun, Burgundy. We stay here for three nights on our ‘La Francaise’ tour. This hotel, once a 17th century convent, overlooks the Roman ramparts of the old city, and has a magnificent view of the Morvan hills. Hotel Les Ursulines boasts a gourmet restaurant and during your stay you will dine in an 18th century former chapel. This hotel is charming – but technically it has a 3 star rating so we cannot call it first class!

The beauty of having smaller groups of thirty people or less means we are able to use hotels of this style and character.

Our hotel's style, character or location will add significant 'flavour' to your tour and become highlights in themselves!

Castelbrando, Italy

Our hotels have been selected for their ambience to compliment the objective of these unique tours.  You will find them all specifically named in each itinerary, and many are also individually described. Often we also include hotel websites. All bedrooms, in all hotels on all tours, have private facilities.

'The hotels and locations were fantastic and well chosen by Albatross. It was very refreshing to also stay in smaller villages and hotels as opposed to just the major cities and big hotels'.

Our hotels are usually 4 star - first class.

Schloss Hornberg, Germany

Occasionally in some regions we deliberately select to stay in superior tourist class hotels.  This will be either for their very special style and character or their advantageous, central location – something very important to consider when you are staying somewhere for three or four nights!

For instance, our hotel in the heart of the old town in Nice has been chosen for its fantastic location. Literally on the doorstep of this ‘provincial style’, superior tourist class hotel are the superb, daily fresh produce and flower markets. We have purposely left an entire day at leisure here.  You only have to step outside to be immediately amongst the sights, smells, tastes and aromas of the ‘real’ France.  Why would you want to stay anywhere else?

On the All Quiet on the Western Front tour we use superior three star hotels as they are the best hotels available in the delightful, old city centres of Ypres and Amiens.
