What is the benefit of the Australian War Historians on your tours?
Our Australian War Historians have all handled numerous Albatross ANZAC groups before and will be with you throughout the time you will spend on the Gallipoli Peninsula (with the exception of the ANZAC Essential Tour which does NOT include the services of the War Historians). They are on hand to bring to life those tragic campaigns of long ago. Their intimate background knowledge helps separate fact from fable and provides numerous fascinating insights into the lifestyle and living conditions of the infamous ‘Diggers’.
Whether it be in larger group talks or smaller, more personal discussions your Historians’ experience will immediately be obvious. Whether you are at Shrapnel Valley or Lone Pine, our historians will be there with you helping you understand and appreciate what really happened. We believe their contribution is absolutely essential to give you a complete and fulfilling experience.
Do coaches have toilets?
Generally Turkish coaches do NOT have toilets, however there are plenty of scheduled comfort stops on all itineraries.
Do Turkish hotels have vegemite on breakfast buffets?
No, if you would like vegemite you will need to take your own.
Are your hotels first class?
Where you stay in the Gallipoli region is so very important. We are very proud of our selection of Gallipoli hotels for all our ANZAC Commemorative tours. They are superbly located in the heart of Canakkale town or a few kilometres along the Dardanelles coast with views across the straits to the Turkish memorial on Cape Helles.
They are Superior Tourist Class quality and are personally inspected by our own, full time Albatross Travel staff, several times a year. Canakkale is a premium location with only a 30 minute ferry ride across the Dardenelles allowing swift and easy access to the Gallipoli sights. Their position is fundamental to your ANZAC experience.
In Istanbul the quality and presentation of hotels graded as 4 star varies immensely. Albatross Travel staff inspect and vet all our hotels and we have selected to use the 4 star Nippon Hotel. This hotel is superbly located in the Taksim district, close to excellent shopping and authentic Turkish restaurants. Our Essential tour stays in the excellent 4 star Feronya Hotel, also located in the Taksim area.
Throughout the rest of Turkey all our selected hotels are 4 star/ First Class hotels.
