King Arthur’s round table found!

The site of King Arthur’s round table has been located, claim historians who say it could have seated 1,000 people. Researchers believe the king’s stronghold of Camelot was built on the site of a Roman amphitheatre found in Chester. Legend has it that before battle, his knights would gather at a round table to receive instructions. But rather than a piece of furniture, experts believe it was a large wood and stone structure. Chris Gidlow, a historian, said finding a memorial at the amphitheatre was the “clincher” because 6th century writings referred to the site of one of Arthur’s two main battles, and to a martyr’s shrine within it.
