What is Vamoos?

Vamoos is an application which displays your Albatross tour information on your iPhone, iPad or Android mobile device. It provides you with useful tour information, travel tips, 'My Time' suggestions, maps and weather forecasts.

Do I have to download the VAMOOS app?

The choice is entirely yours, we believe our VAMOOS travel app will enhance your Albatross tour experience, however of course it will certainly not replace any of the services provided by your expert Albatross Tour Manager.

Which Albatross tours is the VAMOOS app available?

If VAMOOS is available on your tour you will be informed via email prior to departure. There will also be information on how to download the VAMOOS app along with your login details in your pre-departure information pack. This pack is normally posted to you 3-4 weeks prior to your tour departure. Please contact us if you are unable to locate your your login details.

How do I access the VAMOOS app?

Please ensure you are on WIFI when you download the app, ideally before you depart - that way it won't affect your data plan.
To download Vamoos:
Or simply go to the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android) and search for VAMOOS to install the app.
When it opens you need to type in your unique VAMOOS reference number (ALB-XXXXX), which can be found on your TOUR VOUCHER in your pre-departure information pack.

What if I am travelling on more than 1 tour?

You can load multiple tours to your Travel App. Simply go to the menu when logged in (top left corner with 3 horizontal white lines) and tap "Load New". You'll be able to add another Vamoos reference code, and you'll see a list of them appear in the menu page (under the "Trips/Events" heading). Simply toggle between your trips or events depending on the one you want to see.

Do I have to be connected to a mobile network or WIFI to view my travel documents?

No. VAMOOS have worked very hard to ensure that all our information is available in the application even when you are not able to access a local mobile network or WIFI. Of course you need to be connected to download the app and your trip or event information in the first place, but after that no more connections are needed unless there are changes to your documents or you want the latest weather. Just hit "refresh" from the menu page at any time.

What devices will the VAMOOS app work on?

The VAMOOS app is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch (requires iOS 8.0 or later) plus Android devices.

How long does the VAMOOS app take to download on my device?

It can take a few minutes, depending on how much complexity there is. But it's best to download our VAMOOS Travel app now, so that you can have access to all your content offline while you're away. Note: if your device screen times out, the download will stop; so keep an eye on it and swipe if it's about to go to sleep. Similarly, if you go away from Vamoos app (to check your email for instance) the download will stop, but it will pick up from where it was when you open the app again. Note that the offline version of the maps will only download when you first click on the maps icon. This will take some additional time but it is well worth doing when you set up Vamoos.


How much storage space is needed?

This depends entirely of how extensive your travel or event plans are. A simple event or trip typically takes around 50MB whereas a more detailed complex plan could use 100MB or more. You can delete data at any time if you need to free up space on your device - simply go to the menu page and choose "Setting" to clear the maps or "Trips/Events" if you want to remove a complete Vamoos itinerary.

When I zoom in to the maps I see blank spaces appearing?

To save device memory we only provide high resolution maps in the areas surrounding the points on the map - in between there are only low resolution maps. If however you are on a WIFI or data network you can see all maps and satellite images by choosing to "View Online".

Can I switch off notifications?

Yes, go to the menu page and tap Settings. You'll be able to switch off notifications here.
