Those who call the Southern Hemisphere home have spent their fair share of Christmases in the heat. While poolside presents and balmy backyard games are a nice way to spend the summer months, Albatross Tours has devoted over 27 years showing Australians and New Zealanders a different side of Christmas. A Christmas market tour is just one of the idyllic ways to spend your days and nights on a European winter holiday – through cities like Frankfurt, Munich and Milan. Albatross is proud to present three intimate group Christmas market tours with options from 10 to 13 days. We can’t wait to guide you through some of Europe’s most majestic markets this Christmas.

German & Austrian Christmas Markets Tour – 10 Days

Beginning in the German city of Frankfurt, this tour highlights the collision of the new with the old in central Europe. You’ll follow the cobblestone streets of Rothenburg to the city’s famous ‘Christmas Shop’ and be drawn down countless alleyways where the market stalls are hidden.

Further south, the group will visit one of the most inspiring and famous castles in the world – ‘Mad’ King Ludwig’s romantic Neuschwanstein Castle. Here, you’ll be shown various apartments and the throne room of the 19th-century building, before moving onto Oberammergau beneath snow-capped mountains.

In the tour’s final days, the group will arrive in Munich – where post-war cafes, beer halls and town hall host some final Christmas shopping.

All excursions, scenic drives, sightseeing and site entry are included in the trip, so you can relax and enjoy the humble streets of Germany and Austria.

Bohemian Christmas Markets Tour – 11 Days

From Berlin to Munich, this authentic experience will take a group of up to 28 visitors through 7 Christmas markets including Dresden, Leipzig, Prague, Bamberg, Nurnberg and Rothenburg.

Naturally, the Berlin leg of the tour will incorporate Brandenburg Gate and sections of the Berlin Wall.

The Saxon Switzerland National Park provides several sightseeing opportunities such as the Bastei Bridge and Konigstein Fortress ramparts, as well as guaranteed ‘My Time’ in several major cities.

In the Czech Republic, Prague Castle is the world’s largest castle giving the tour plenty of time to be guided through its 17th-century halls.

Prague’s Wenceslas Square hosts the city’s best Christmas market nearby to your hotel, with the colder weather welcoming visitors to sip some traditional warm honey-wine called medovina.

Swiss Alpine Christmas Markets Tour - 13 Days

Albatross’ third and final Christmas market tour takes a slow and winding route through the Swiss alps. Starting from Munich, through Austria, Lichtenstein, Switzerland and finishing in Milan, Italy, this is the pinnacle of Christmas experiences.

A long list of world-renowned sights will be interspersed with picturesque drives through snowy forests and the dazzling Fern Pass.

Swarovski’s Crystal Worlds will prelude a 2-night stay in a chalet-style hotel in Klosters, just inside Switzerland, before a panoramic train ride on the Golden Pass.

Lakeside Christmas markets abound in Montreux, and meringues can be sampled in their birthplace of Mereingen.

A buffet lunch in the famous 007 revolving restaurant will enthrall the James Bond fans and a Swiss folklore show will have you immersed in the local entertainment industry before heading off to Milan.

Often touted as one of the fashion capitals of the world, you’ll have plenty of options to complete some Christmas shopping in between one last market and a farewell dinner.
